Our history

Burleigh Arts

One Arts Gold Coast grew out of the Burleigh Arts Group Inc (BAG). First established in February 2004, BAG promoted creative people and activities. Holding Art in the Park events across the Gold Coast including Burleigh, Hope Island Marine Precinct (Art on the Boardwalk), Royal Pines, Southbank Markets and Chevron Renaissance.

During this time, BAG coordinated mural projects across the city including Australand, Clover Hill Primary, and Main Roads. Other projects included workshop and exhibitions programs.

In 2015, BAG moved to the Isle of Capri and revamped an old hockey club into an art gallery. Rebranding from Burleigh Arts, BAG then became One Arts Gold Coast. This inclusive rebranding expanded the focus to supporting artists across the Gold Coast.

These days, One Art’s main focus is on supporting local artists through the monthly Artist in Residence Program. The gallery also offers many workshops and programs focussing on health, wellbeing, and creativity.

We acknowledge and pay respects to the people of the Yugambeh language region of the Gold Coast and all their descendants both past and present. We also acknowledge the many Aboriginal people from other regions as well as Torres Strait and South Sea Islander people who now live in the local area and have made an important contribution to the community.
